Located in “Hell’s Valley,” given the name for its steep cliffs, hostile-looking forests, and boiling water that bubbles out of frozen ground, this park is actually more beautiful than the name leads on. Jigokudani Monkey Park is a famous hot spring in Japan near Nagano, known for the large Snow Monkey population that inhabits the area. They can usually be found during the day, warming up in the hot springs, predominantly during the heavy snowfalls that cover the land in snow for up to four months. Humans have been known to share this hot spring with the monkeys from time-to-time.

Matsumoto Castle is one of Japan’s original fortresses, and one of it’s most impressive castles. Located in the middle of Matsumoto City, Nagano, it is very easy for people to stop by and visit. Created in the 16th century, this fortress has survived throughout much of history, maintaining its wooden interior and stonework exterior. The castle itself was the seat of the Mastumoto domain, possibly for its ability to easily defend against enemies, being that a major portion of it is on a plain by the water. Additionally, Matsumoto Castle has been listed as the National Treasure of Japan.
